Now you can learn the application of this wonderful modality for both horses and dogs!
Bach Flower Therapy veteran holistic practitioner and experienced horse trainer and dog handler Diana Thompson has used the Bach Flower essences in her training and equine rehabilitation work since 1985. The Bach Flower essences have the ability to balance the emotional states of both people and animals. In horses, the flower essences calm the flight or fight reflex, helping an animal relax and become receptive to training and handling. The essences are also used to ease nervousness, fear or anger in horses that have been injured or roughly handled. Most of these same concepts apply to the dog.
Thompson uses the essences along with specific acupressure points (ones used in Chinese medicine to address the animal's Heart and Spirit), ground handling and training methods. This multi-disciplinary approach allows the handler to calm the animal's emotional state and bring about the release of chronically tight muscles and joints. The animal's ability to mentally focus and willingly participate with the handler increases.
Please note: Bach Flower Remedies do not replace veterinary care, they are meant to compliment the horses' and dogs' emotional state.
Course Outline: In this three-day class, Diana will lecture about the healing qualities of each of the 38 Bach flower essences developed by Dr. Bach. She will explain how each flower essence relates to equine and canine behavior. She will teach students how to combine the flowers into formulas to assist nervous, frightened, unfocused, belligerent, stiff and injured horses and dogs. She will also share her formulas which help the animal stay calm during massage sessions, competitive events, shows, traveling, training and veterinary care.
During the hands on portions, students will learn methods of applying the Bach Flower essences during equine and canine massage and acupressure sessions to enhance the benefit of physical therapy. Students will also learn the location of specific acupressure points used in classical Chinese medicine to address the dog and horse's Heart and Spirit. Students will also learn and apply handling methods that improve a dog or horse's ability to physically and emotionally focus on the handler.
